Thunderstorms
Traditional Meaning
In ancient times, people saw thunderstorms as more than just storms—they were doorways. When lightning split the sky and thunder rumbled through the earth, they believed the veil between worlds had thinned, allowing spirits to pass through.
The Norse believed Thor, god of thunder, was riding across the heavens, his hammer striking the clouds, sending lightning flashing through the sky. Others thought storms carried messages from the gods, or that lost souls drifted through the rain, searching for a way home.
Ruby’s Meaning
In Ruby’s world, a thunderstorm is a thin place, where the barrier between realms stretches thin. It’s easier to spot signs during one. But storms aren’t the only thin places. The seaside shimmers with secrets, grottos hum with old magic, avenues of trees form natural gateways, and ancient trees hold special energy. In these places, if you watch closely and listen just right… you might catch a sign before it fades.
